This year it has started few days earlier itself. Very rarely, once in few decades, uttarayana has started earlier \- once in four years \- uttarayana energy starts before … starts itself.

I was wondering he ……..was great yogi. I was wondering why he just didn’t wait few days. Then I realized that uttarayana punya kala started. This year, alignment adjustment happens once in 12 years \- a few days before itself uttarayana energy has started, that is why Swamiji left the body \- all my Gurus I can give you a long list, most my Gurus my predecessors left the body on Uttarayana.

Today we have a great celebration, celebrating Surya Perumbule, blessing whole humanity and blessing whole with his gracious presence. In Adi Kailash we have pongal celebration, We have..and you will be worshipping Surya, Surya Perumberule and you will also be having Pongal celebrations, let’s first offer our devotion to Surya Perumberule and let’s receive his grace by Arti and devotion, then continue the satsang.

Tiruvanammalai has so many brahmotsavams, this is one of the brahmotsavams like a 1000 years before we had this one as main brahmotsavam, now Karthike Deepam is the main celebration.

The uttarayana is beginning. It’s called Uttarayana punyakala. This year it has started few days earlier itself. Very rarely, once in few decades, the Uttarayana starts few days before the Makar Sankranti. The energy just like a leap year, not once in four years, but once in maybe 10 year or 15 year, few days before itself that Uttarayana energy starts, before Makar Sankranti itself. And I want to tell you, when Udupi swamiji left the body, had videha mukti few days before, I was wondering, he is a great yogi, he was yogi, no doubt he is a great yogi, I was wondering why he did not wait for just few days, Makar Sankranti, the Uttarayana punyakala, why he left the body few days before.Then I realized that cosmically, the cosmic energy already the Uttarayana punyakala started this year. Because usually the alignment adjustment happens once in 12 years or maybe a decade. So this year due to that alignment, few days before itself the Uttarayana punyakala started, before the Makar Sankranti the energy has started. That is why, Udupi swamiji left the body to reach Vaikunta.. and... all My gurus… Understand… I can give a long list..., almost all My gurus, My predecessors, My gurus and My predecessors left the body exactly on Uttarayanam.

Let Me start with Kuppammal. Kuppammal, 26th January 1995, just waited for Uttarayanam, the moment Uttarayanam started, she left the body. Uttarayanam usually starts by 15th and she left the body. Issaki swamigal, that year also, Issaki swamigal left the body in 1991, that year also Uttarayanam has started just few days before. He left the body on 9th January. Usually Uttarayanam starts on 15th January, that year also, it started just few days before like this year and exactly the moment Uttarayanam started, he left the body.

I can give you the long list, Tiruchhi swamigal, he just waited for Uttarayanam, the day Uttarayanam started, he left the body.... And Balagangadharnatha Mahaswamiji of AdiChunchanagiri Mahasamsthana, just he waited, that year also, just 2 \- 3 days before Uttarayanam started, the moment Uttarayanam started, he left the body. I can give you the lonnnng… list … of the great beings… just waited for Uttarayanam, the moment Uttarayanam starts, they leave the body.

The Uttarayanam is such an auspicious time, actually the Tiruvannamalai brahmotsavam; if I have to tell you the truth as it is … When I read the old documents of Sthala Varalaru, Stanigar Varalaru and Maniyam, these are the handwritten documents maintained as Thala Patra, Sri Talapatra means in palm leaves. Sometimes the goat skin and much later the bamboo crush, bamboo crushed and made as a rough paper. In those days, that old time, like a thick pad, kind of a paper. In those, these were the documents. If I see… and refer those documents, many times I had the fortune of seeing those old documents through the.. those days that Shivacharyas, even though I never had a copy, now I am trying to request all of them, whoever has anything please at least help us digitize and upload for the whole world to know our history.

When I was referring some of the old Stala Varalaru, Stanigar Varalaru of Arunachaleshwara temple and Maniyam, those old... documents in those days, I came to know, the original brahmotsavam of Arunachaleshwara temple is this Uttarayana punyakala brahmotsavam ….. This was the original brahmotsavam. Kartikai Deepam was mahotsavam, like a one day festival. It was not like a brahmotsavam. Much later, when I say much later, in Hinduism 1000 years before. It was only last 1000 years that Karthigai deepam is celebrated as brahmotsavam, before 1000 years it was Uttarayana punyakalam and Dakshinayana punyakalam. In the month of Aani and in the month of Thai. These are the two months the main brahmotsavams were happening.

This is a very auspicious, most auspicious time of the year. Refresh ourselves and today we have a great celebration, worshipping Surya, the Paramborul, Surya Paramborul for gracing all of us and blessing the whole humanity and whole universe with his auspicious presence. Today we have great worship, Pongal celebration in AdiKailasa. We will be worshipping Surya, Surya Paramborul…. and.. we will also be having the Pongal celebrations.. and worship of Surya. Let’s first offer our devotion to Surya Paramborul and receive his grace by offering the aarthi and devotion and then continue the satsang…

Sabarimalai Ayyappa gives darshan as jyoti swarupi and too many wonderful auspicious things happen, Arunachaleshwara Himself comes and gives darshan to Surya. Today and tomorrow, there will be grand celebration in Arunachala called Thiruvoodal festival and.. the house and the street in which I was born and brought up is named as Thiruvoodal street because of this celebration. This brahmotsavam, which used to be the main brahmotsavam. Now it is celebrated as brahmotsavam, as one more, like Tiruvannamalai temple has so many brahmotsavams. In that, this one is the, also become one more brahmotsavam, but 1000 years before this used to be the main brahmotsavam. Now the main brahmotsavam is the Karthikai Deepam celebration. Karthikai Deepam brahmotsavam and this becomes one of the brahmotsavams and we have lot of celebrations today and tomorrow . Stay tuned. (20:33)
