\[00:14:35\] Paramashiva, I am here intensely, powerfully manifesting and available to all of you. Eternally radiating My own bliss from the Nishkala Svarupa, the space of Nishkala and Nirvikalpa, manifesting Myself and extending, expanding as everything. I am here, available to everyone. Let us all intensely connect with the Superconsciousness of Paramashiva. Settle down, start listening intensely; I will open My very Core, My very Being to all of you. Through this powerful cognitions, understanding, decide to come to these powerful conclusions along with Me. Mahashivaratri is manifestation of Me from My Nirvikalpa Nishkala Svarupa, into this everything that exists. From My Nishkala Svarupa, I manifested as everything that exists.
\[00:17:02\] This Shivaratri is celebrated, this Shivaratri is observed, celebrated to celebrate My manifestation from Nishkala Svarupa and everything exists. From My pure formlessness, unclutched Nishkala Svarupa space, I manifested and continue to manifest everything that exists. Nirvikalpa, Niranjana, Nirakara, Nishkala Svarupa, from that space I manifested as everything that exists. This manifestation is the Lingodbhava in Arunachala. This is the day again and again I am intensely available for every one of you to experience the State of Paramashiva \- pure unclutched state, the Space of Paramashiva \- where powerful completion exists, where Parameshwara manifests as everything and all the auspiciousness, the Powers of Paramashiva manifests as Parashakti \- My own extension, Being of Paramashiva \- alive, living entity.
\[00:19:59\] Understand. If you think your qualities are stronger than your identity, you will see Paramashiva also has the quality and less identity. If you think your identity is more powerful than your quality, you will think Paramashiva also is a powerful identity, less of His qualities; He is more His identity than His qualities. People who feel their identity is stronger than their qualities, they will connect with Paramashiva also with the same idea. You will feel Paramashiva also is a strong identity and His qualities come and go. There are some people who feel their qualities are more stronger than their identity. They feel Paramashiva also same; His qualities are stronger than His identity, so let us meditate on His qualities. But you understand one thing: Me as Paramashiva, I am strong in My identity and in My qualities. I am not just the totality of few qualities. I am more than any qualities you can imagine, visualize. All the best qualities you can imagine, visualize \- all that put together and something more is Me.
\[00:21:59\] Listen to this: by knowing how I exist, you will become Me, because you will recognize you also exist in the same way. I am revealing the macrocosmic secrets. If you internalize these macrocosmic secrets, you will realize as a microcosm you also exist with the same principles, with the same understanding in the same flow. Understanding you exist in the same way I exist, you will be liberated. You will be liberated. You will manifest Me. Paramashiva is all the best qualities you can imagine; all the best qualities put together plus something more. So the identity is also strong. That is why I am saying, I am form, formlessness and more\! I have a identity. I have Being. I have all the Ananta Kalyana Gunas, all the qualities and more. By meditating on any of My qualities or My identity, you will manifest Me. You can connect with anything.
\[00:25:33\] Paramashiva is here manifesting, available for every being, everyone. Listen intensely. By internalizing the truths I am revealing, by coming to these powerful conclusions I am revealing, by connecting with these powerful cognitions I am revealing, you will realize your Paramashivatva. These great macrocosmic secrets I am revealing, by internalizing them, you will realize your microcosm also functions in this same quality and principle. So understand, Paramashiva \- I am form, formless, identity and all the auspicious qualities. Some people say I am embodiment of quality. Some people say I am a form. If you feel you are just embodiment of certain qualities, you will connect with Me as embodiment of some quality. If you feel you are an identity, you will connect with Me also as an identity. If you feel you have form, you will connect with Me as a form. Understand, in reality, I am formless and I have forms and I am a powerful identity, powerful Being, powerful auspicious qualities. I have everything as My expression, as Me\! If you connect to any of My auspicious quality, you will reach Me. If you connect to My forms, you will reach Me. If you connect to My Being, you will reach Me. You connect My existence, you will reach Me.
\[00:28:35\] Shivaratri, Mahashivaratri, this is the time I manifested from timelessness into time. So this is the beginning of time. This is the beginning of form. From My formlessness, I manifested as form. From My timelessness, I manifested as time. From My timelessness, I manifested as time. From My formlessness, I manifested as form. So this is the beginning of everything that exists. My creation aspect \- Srishti \- creation aspect \- understand. My creation aspect \- Srishti \- the manifestation aspect. My maintenance dimension \- Sthiti \- sustenance dimension of this whole Universe. And My rejuvenation dimension \- destruction or rejuvenation dimension. This destruction and rejuvenation continuously happens in everything, in everyone. That is the way life functions. Understand, all the great transformation in you happens when you understand this destruction and rejuvenation is the best form of existence.
\[00:31:10\] Many time due to your delusion, you make wrong decisions. You accumulate wrong things which you don’t need. You accumulate wrong qualities which you don’t need. You accumulate wrong people you don’t need. You accumulate wrong contract you don’t need to maintain. For your manifestation of the ultimate reality, many things which you don’t need, you accumulate it. Through My power of destruction and rejuvenation, I continuously liberate you. I continuously facilitate your liberation. I continuously facilitate your liberation. Many time you accumulate relationships with wrong contract, wrong understandings, destructive mental patterns. I intervene at those moments through My rejuvenation power and destruction power. I liberate you all from unnecessarily accumulated desires, unnecessarily accumulated relationships, unnecessarily accumulated contracts, unnecessarily accumulated diseases in the body, in the mind. Anything which you accumulated which is not necessary for your ultimate manifestation of Paramashiva, I Myself use the power of rejuvenation and destruction and liberate all of you. So never be afraid of My rejuvenation power, destruction power. Start celebrating, cherishing, enjoying even My destruction, rejuvenation power.
\[00:34:03\] The fourth dimension of Me is putting in delusion and pulling out of delusion. Many time when you can’t handle the reality as it is, when you are not ready to be in that highest awareness space, some things are kept out of your sight to reduce the stress for you, to give you space to cope up with the reality. So My power of rejuvenation and My power to put you in delusion and liberate \- both work hand in hand. When you are not ready to go through the transformation you need to go through, when some parts of you need to be purified, when you need to be purified, when important, unavoidable surgeries need to be performed on you to remove the cancerous tumours which you accumulated, and when you are not able to handle the pain of the surgery \- Trobhava \- delusion is used to make you forget the surgery happening. Once the surgery is done, you are free. You are pulled out of delusion. My destruction power and rejuvenation power \- Samhara power and My Trobhava \- putting into delusion and pulling out of delusion are all My extreme compassion. All these happens due to My extreme compassion.
\[00:36:41\] Then the fifth dimension of Me is liberation. Liberating you and manifesting Me in you fully, forever. Srishti \- creation. Sthiti \- maintenance. Samhara \- destruction and rejuvenation. And Trobhava \- putting in delusion or pulling out of delusion. And Anugraha \- liberation. I Myself do all these five as this Universe, in this Universe, for this Universe. In each dimension of Me \- Srishti, Sthiti, Samhara, Trobhava, Anugraha \- creation, maintenance, rejuvenation and destruction, delusion and pulling out of delusion and liberation. All these five dimensions, I play in all these five dimensions. Inside the creation, I create creation space and I sustain the creation space and I rejuvenate the creation’s space. I put the creation’s space in delusion and pull it out and I liberate the creation space.
\[00:39:03\] Understand, listen intensely. Whatever now I am revealing, map it to your life, you can see you are continuously creating, creating, creating. Something you call good, something you call bad but you continuously create. If you are making yourself useful to others, you create wealth. If not, you create poverty but you continue to create something. There is no idle. There is no idle time; even if you are lazy, you are creating poverty, understand. You need to know during laziness, there is no stand still; you are creating poverty. When you are useful to others, you are creating wealth. When you are idle, lazy, tired, bored, you are creating poverty. Know clearly, understand clearly your manifestation \- creation shakti, your creation dimension.
\[00:40:34\] This Shivaratri, meditate Me in you. Meditate Paramashiva in you. Realize the Paramashivatva in you. This is My message and this is My gift to each one of you. Internalize one by one. Understand your creation dimension. You continue to create. You continue to create your body. You continue to create your mind. Every decision you take strengthens certain pattern in you and you continue to create your life through your decisions. You continue to create, manifest relationships. You continue to create wealth or poverty around you. You continue to create liberated or bound life. Either you manifest liberation or suffocation. Understand each dimension. If you create liberation with right understanding that will be permanent. If you create the liberation based on your ideas, that will lead to more destruction, more delusion. Liberation should be centered on the spiritual understanding. So it becomes real liberation forever in you. Not just changing a place, escaping from one place because you feel suffocated is not liberation. Remove the suffocation inside\! Removing the suffocation inside with the right spiritual understanding is the permanent liberation. Understand\!
\[00:43:02\] I have seen many time, people try to change place because they feel suffocated. Especially in this Corona season, they feel suffocated with place and people. So they think by changing the place, by running away from a place, they can be liberated. No\! Only by changing the cognitions inside and coming to a spiritual understanding about life, you will be really liberated. Understand the science of liberation. Understand the science of manifestation, creation.
\[00:43:59\] Listen. When people come and ask Me, “Do I feel very happy or proud about manifesting this Kailasa nation?” I tell them, “My manifestation for this enlightened civilization is the real creation. I enjoy My manifestation for this enlightened civilization as My real creation. I celebrate that as My creation.” This Kailasa nation is the side effect, good side effect. But My real creation is in how many people I manifested Paramashiva State? How many people I helped to experience Unclutching? How many people started experiencing Completion? How many people experience the State of Paramashiva? How many people experience the Space of Paramashiva? How many people start manifesting Powers of Paramashiva? I consider that as My real creation and manifestation. If you know what is your real creation and what should be your real creation, you will never have suffering, suffocation. Knowing what should be your real creation is what Krishna says,
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन
karmaṇyevādhikāraste mā phaleṣu kadācana\[ḥ\]
“You have the right to work, not to crave for the results.”
\[00:46:24\] Listen. When I know clearly My real creation is this civilization, this enlightened civilization, so I go on working for it. Intense, sincere work\! From the time I assumed this body, especially after the Yoga Pattabhishekam in 1994, more than twenty six years now \- intense, sincere, hard work and public life\! Listen carefully. In this whole work, I am focused; from the beginning till now I am focused and I will be focused even in the future only on one thing \- My contribution to this enlightened civilization, the ancient enlightened Hindu civilization. I will calculate My success, My ability to manifest based on how many people I helped to unclutch and be in Nirvikalpa Samadhi \- State of Paramashiva, how many beings I helped to achieve Complete Completion \- Purnatva, the State and Space of Paramashiva, where the Paramashiva manifests as Paramameshwara and runs this Universe, and how many people I helped to manifest the Powers of Paramashiva, Parashakti, how many people have been empowered by Me, by My hard work to manifest Parashakti and how many people experience the Being of Paramashiva, how many people manifest Kailasa in their life.
\[00:49:12\] This is what I consider as My manifestation ability \- My Srishti power. Look in and have the right understanding about your Srishti, you will never have frustration. If I am focused on the nation \- Kailasa, I will always have frustration because what we want, may happen, may not happen. But I am focused on enlightened civilization \- Kailasa, so this nation \- Kailasa happens as a side effect. As a side effect, this nation \- Kailasa is happening. But I am focused on enlightened civilization \- Kailasa, reviving the enlightened civilization \- Kailasa. I am focused on My spiritual work intensely. How many people I helped to manifest powers? How many people I helped to manifest the Being of Paramashiva? How many people I help to manifest the Superconsciousness of Paramashiva? How many people I helped to manifest Kailasa? That is what I considered as My ability to create, Srishti \- manifestation.
\[00:50:49\] Spend little time with yourself. Sit and pen down what is the right creation power of your life? What should be the right creation you should be focusing? Because I am focused on the right creation, I don’t get frustrated forever. There is no tiredness, there is no boredom, there is no frustration. Eternally blissful, celebrating because constantly I focus on how many people I can help to manifest. How many more people I can help \- give them My blessings, the prayers they are asking and the boons they are asking, and how many people I can fulfill \- bring them to Completion, Enlightenment, fulfillment, the State of Paramashiva or the Space of Paramashiva or the Powers of Paramashiva. My focus is on right creation.
Listen carefully, intensely. If you look in, pen down, think through, internalize, align your focus on right creation. What should be the right creation? What should be your scale to measure your success? What should be your goal? And what should be the right scale to measure your success? In My life I am very clear, reviving the enlightened civilization Kailasa is My creation. That is My manifestation. That is My focus. That is the scale with which I measure My success and that is My goal. That is why I don’t feel tired, bored, frustrated.
\[00:53:29\] Listen. I have done thousands of attempts. I succeeded millions of times. I have done thousands of attempts; I succeeded millions of times; I might have failed hundreds of times. You may not understand this calculation \- how thousand attempt, hundreds failure means, hundred failure means then it should be nine hundred success. That is what is your logic. No\! The logic of life is not mathematics of your mind. When you attempt ten times, five times if you have failed, five times you will be successful. In that level, your logic and the mathematics is one and the same. But, when you raise your attempts to hundred, in hundred attempts, even if you fail twenty five attempts, you will be successful hundred times. The logic changes. Listen carefully. When you are infusing life into you more and more, the logic changes. If you attempt thousand times, you may fail hundred times but you will be successful million times; because the logic while you, while you are attenting attempting thousand times is different from your mathematics.
I will repeat. Listen. When you are attempting ten things in your life, if you fail in five things you will be successful in five things. When you are attempting hundred things in your life, if you fail in twenty five things you will be successful in hundred things, hundred times. When you attempt thousand things in your life, if you fail hundred or two hundred or three hundred, you will be successful million times. This is the life, this is the logic of life, because the infusion of life energy in you changes the logic with which your life operates.
\[00:56:27\] Listen carefully. Your agenda does not change your life. Your consciousness changes your life. I am here to change your consciousness. Stop attempting ten times. Stop attempting hundred things. Start attempting thousands of things simultaneously, spontaneously, intensely, continuously. Understand this logic of life. I know clearly what I am supposed to manifest and create. My focus; and I can see every day, I am infused with more and more Lakshmi because My lakshya is right. I am intensely showered with the Lakshmi.
\[00:57:59\] To all My followers and disciples, I give you this as a commandment. Thou shall try multidimensional, multiple attempts, multiple actions, multiple level consistently, continuously, intensely, spontaneously again and again and again. This is the law of Srishti \- manifestation for all My disciples, followers. Thou shall attend, attempt, work, manifest, try thousands and thousands and thousands continuously, sincerely, spontaneously, intensely.
So let Me repeat. Let Me repeat. If you attempt ten things and fail in five things, you will be successful in five things. If you attempt hundred things at a time and you fail in twenty five things you will be successful in hundred times in hundred things. If you attempt thousand things, if you fail even in five hundred things you will be successful in million things and million times; this is logic of life\! The logic of life is not maths of your life. Statistics of the life is different. State of life is different. What you think as statistics, applies only to the lower existence. The State of Paramashiva, the logic of the State of Paramashiva is different. Now I am revealing this Cosmic secret to all of you. This is the Cosmic secret, the Paramashiva’s secret of creation, manifestation, Srishti. The secret of Paramashiva’s Srishti is this\! Understand this law\! Understand this logic\! Start, you will be Paramashiva\! You will manifest the manifestation of Paramashiva. You will create the creation of Paramashiva.
\[01:01:09\] I have seen in My own life. I have seen in My own life \- Paramashiva manifesting as Nithyananda Paramashivam. I am absolutely focused on My right goal, and I attempt thousands and thousands of things simultaneously, spontaneously, continuously, sincerely, intensely, uncompromisingly. So, if I attempt thousand things, even if I fail in five hundred things, I am successful in millions of things. When I realized this logic, creation became joyful. There is no frustration. There is no tiredness. There is no dullness. There is no boredom. There is no anger towards Universe. There is no frustration towards Universe. There is no frustration towards life. There is no life negativity because I am seeing I am showered intensely more than I even tried. I only attempted thousand things but I am successful in million things. Then why will I have any anger towards life? I am eternally grateful; I am fulfilled, overflowing\! This is the secret of creation \- Srishti in life\!
\[01:03:28\] All My disciples who follow Me, who consider Me as your Guru, Master, guide, teacher, friend, philosopher, all My followers, anyone who has a sympathy, love towards what I am teaching \- this is the commandment of Srishti for all of you: thou shall continuously, spontaneously attempt thousands and thousands of things intensely, sincerely, consistently, continuously. I am revealing how the macrocosm functions, Paramashiva’s truth, Cosmic truth and how I manifested in this Incarnation as Nithyananda Paramshivam. When you know these two, you can just internalize this and manifest it as Paramashiva in you.
\[01:04:55\] In every level, in Sthiti \- maintenance, know clearly what you need to maintain. If you maintain which, everything will be maintained. I know very clearly what I should maintain. By maintaining which, everything will be maintained. I am maintaining that\! I am revealing all the deeper secrets to you all. What do I need to maintain? Just My Samadhi state and My body’s ability to manifest this Samadhi intensely and making Itself available to all of you, that’s all; not the big, big ashrams I created, not the great Samrajyas I created, not the Kingdoms I built. All that will be maintained by itself. What I need to maintain in a focused way is My ability to manifest Samadhi intensely and making Myself available to all of you continuously, sincerely, intensely, in as many ways as possible. If I get ten minutes in My life, the first thing I remember, “Can I make Dial The Avatar calls and reach out to more people? Can I make some more programs and make Myself available to more people? Can I just put a post in the Facebook or social media and inspire more people to practice Unclutching?” Continuously, I am focused on maintaining My ability to manifest the State of Paramashiva, Space of Paramashiva, Powers of Paramashiva, Being of Paramashiva, Superconsciousness of Paramashiva, Kailasa of Paramashiva, to all of you. That is what I need to maintain; if I maintain that, that is enough; everything else will be maintained by itself. You also sit and spend little time in your life to look in \- what should be your first priority in your maintenance? If you know by maintaining which, everything will be maintained; you just know life and not only you will be maintaining, you will be go on expanding.
\[01:07:52\] Today, so many Kailasas are getting added\! So much work is happening all over the world\! Still so many thousands\! Thousands and thousands are continuously getting blessed, manifesting the State of Paramashiva, Space of Paramashiva, Powers of Paramashiva. The Kailasa nation is expanding; not only getting maintained... and expanding. And all the releases today I have, if you see the list \- amazing list of the releases I have. 1500 students learning the Gurukul subject through videos. 1500 student’s learning videos are ready to be released today. In every field, not just getting maintained and expanding; because I know what I need to maintain in My life for everything to be maintained. Learn that secret in your life.
\[01:09:23\] I’ll give you one small but very powerful secret. The more number of hours you are awake, fresh, available for yourself and others, is the success of your life. So, focus maintaining that\! If you need, do Yoga. If you need to stop eating, go for juicing, go for that\! If you need to do Pachai Pattani Viratham to make yourself more active, more alive, go for that. See there are five types of eating.
One, breatharianism: just by breathing, people live. If you mastered that art, that’s the best\! You will live forever, as long as you want, if have you mastered the breatharianism \- Just by the prana \- living. That’s one.
Second, just living by liquids: juice, water. Just by liquids \- living.
Third, fruitarianism: living just by having fruits and vegetables, uncooked.
Fourth, vegetarianism: fruits, vegetables, grains but cooking and eating.
Fifth, is eating everything. What can be done?
These are the five food styles, diet styles.
- Just living just by breathing \- prana.
- Living by liquids \- juices and herbs.
- Living by just by fruits and vegetables \- fruitarianism.
- Living vegetables, fruits but cooking \- vegetarianism means fruits, vegetables, grains \- vegetarianism.
- Fifth, eating everything like a non-veg, everything available. I should call the fifth one as “junkarianism.”
\[01:11:50\] Understand, what kind of a diet you need to keep yourself more active, alive \- go for it uncompromising way. You being alive, active, available to yourself and others is the basic thing you need to maintain. So I know what I should maintain. To maintain, to sustain what I manifested. Every individual I initiated into Unclutching, the State of Paramashiva from 1996, last twenty six years, more than twenty six years \- every individual has to manifest Paramashivatva completely, will be manifesting; the seed sown has to flower, become reality. It cannot die, it won’t die. By My constant sustenance of Me, I can see many people again and again coming back.
Today in the pre-satsang, you would have heard the sharing from Bhairavananda. His father-in-law \- Thangavel Mudaliar, his name is Thangavel Mudaliar; Thanga he is the owner of the National Hotel in Salem. Thangavel Mudaliar and his wife, they were the founders of Dhyanapeetam, the whole Nithyananda Sangha in 2000, I think 2000\. In 2000, they met Me. And from 2000, they founded this whole mission. Of course, his son-in-law Bhairavananda was also part from that time. Today you would have heard his sharings. The seed I have put in 2000 is back now, flowering. No seed is wasted. Be very clear, no action is wasted. Karma \- good or bad, doesn’t disappear. This is a good news. This is never a bad news. It’s a good news. So all of you understand, continue to do good work. Continue to be active in right way. It doesn’t die. I am telling you from My experience, no good work dies.
\[01:15:16\] I am continuously active last twenty six years and I am going to be active at least hundred and fifty more years. Physically in this form, in this body, at least hundred and fifty more years I am going to be active; and I do not even know what is called frustration. Because I know the secret, what I need to create, what I need to focus, what I need to maintain, and what I need to rejuvenate and destroy, understand? Every time, when some things or persons move away from My life or the Kailasa, I just know very clearly Kalabhairava is doing His job. He is pure auspiciousness, compassion. Some reason knowingly, unknowingly due to our continuous work, efforts we might have acquired around us some unwanted persons or persons with unwanted contracts and understandings.
\[01:17:06\] See if you are a disciple with intense surrender, you are a right person, with a right contract you are around Me. Sometimes, people, they come with a disciple \- intense sincere surrender. But in course of time, they try to change their contract. So when the unwanted contracts are trying to get established, unwanted persons getting added; sometimes people come and just settle down not because of the spiritual reason but just for some social reason. Maybe social security or some money or some, some reasons other than the spiritual Enlightenment purpose. Sometimes even some things may come and settle down, land on us without the right purpose or the right contract. Whenever things or persons move away from Me, I know for sure clearly, Kalabhairava is doing His work. He is removing the wrong contracts. He is removing the wrong persons. He is removing the wrong things which is not needed for Me. He is doing the rejuvenation job. He is doing the destruction and rejuvenation out of tremendous compassion.
\[01:18:39\] I tell you, anyone who sees the cute smile in the protruding teeth of Kalabhairava lives death and gets liberated and does not get affected in any of the destruction or rejuvenation. The protruding teeth of Kalabhairava is not anger. It is intense compassion. You try to hang on to your unnecessarily accumulated, unconsciously accumulated relationships or sometimes even diseases or sometimes things. There are some things, you will be wasting your whole time and energy maintaining it even though you know there is no use due to that. So those moments when you are not able to give up on your own, you need Kalabhairava’s help. He need to come and just unclutch it. He need to support you in this destruction and rejuvenation \- Samhara shakti.
\[01:20:04\] Listen to this secret, I am revealing everything as it happens, Paramashiva as Nithyananda Paramashivam. Use this whenever things or beings, persons or items, some things are removed in your life \- look in. See clearly Kalabhairava is directly blessing you. He is doing the surgery. He is doing the surgery. He is helping you. He is removing all the suffocations. He is removing what you are struggling to give up. He is removing the things not needed in your life but sitting as a load. He is removing the people who are toxic as a load on you, but whom you are not able to give up on your own. He is playing this whole game and He is liberating you.
So understand, in front of Kalabhairava, tell Him very clearly, “Whether I know it or not, whether I understand it or not, whether I accept it or not, whether I suffer or enjoy, let Your Dharma prevail\! Oh Kalabhairava, let Your Will prevail\! Let Your Dharma prevail\! When you are not in integrity with Him, He doesn’t reveal all the truths to you. You are put in delusion and the surgery is performed without you feeling any pain just strategically. That is what is Trobhava, delusion is all about. And then after the stra... after the surgery, you are pulled out of that delusion. So understand this science \- why the delusion? Delusion is invited by you by your non-integrity and not ready to take the responsibility for life. When you are ready to take the responsibility for life and be life positive, truths are revealed to you as it is; you are not handled strategically, you are handled honestly. All the truths are told to you as it is.
\[01:26:27\] Some people feel I am extremely integrated and honest to them. Some people feel I am very strategic and I don’t tell the truth exactly My plans about them to them. This is the scale: understand, if you are absolutely integrated to Me, I am absolutely integrated to you. If you are not integrated and not able to take the responsibility for your life, there is no other way, life puts you in delusion and surgery is performed; then you are pulled out of delusion. It’s a law of life.

And what you want to put in delusion in your life, and how you want to pull that out of delusion in your life? How you put yourself in delusion and pull yourself out? And how you put people around you in delusion and pull them out in delusion. Why should you do? How you should do? What you should be focusing?
